THE AUSTRALIAN RAINBOW TROUT FARM

Saturday 27 May 2017

It was a slow morning here at home today but as we woke up fully and were getting ready for the day, Noel thought it'd be a fun idea to go to the trout farm and try our hand at fishing in the ponds there. We have been to one once before up near Bright when Zac was still really little, however it turns out that there is one only 20 minutes from us and they have a big playground and plenty of room for the kids to run around, so we headed over there.

We stopped at the Emerald Bakery on the way to grab some pies and cakes for us to munch on so the kids got stuck into those while Noel and I set up the fishing poles and had our first go. I've never caught a fish before so I was pretty excited when I pulled out a golden rainbow trout. Noel also caught one and a small salmon too which he had cut up into sashimi so he could eat it straight away. I'm not a seafood person so I left all the tasting to him.

Zac and Seb both had turns of holding the fishing rods and Zac was loving winding his one up. We've had multiple toy fishing rods at home in the past (unfortunately they usually break quite quickly) so he had a fair idea of how they worked.

After we had caught a few fish and the kids were starting to get a bit restless, we headed over to the big play ground so they could let off some steam.
